Day 11, Part 4: Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006
Beatty, Nevada to Escalante, Utah
A muddy trail cuts down sharply from the edge of the canyon...
Into a narrow passageway that apparently goes by the totally inappropriate name of "Wall Street".
At the bottom of Wall Street, a gigantic fir tree stretches up towards a sliver of light in the sky.
Around the bend is a never-ending succession of unlikely rock formations.
I find it hard to stop taking pictures of them all.
But eventually the light fades away and--as tempted as I am to curl up in a corner of the canyon for the night--I hike back out and make a promise to myself that some day, I'll come back.
